Government to empower local industries

Ghana government to empower indigenous industries

President John Dramani Mahama on 14 April 2015 stated that the government would empower indigenous industries to operate at capaciy, so as to to reduce the importation of sub-standard goods into the country.

“Government will remove the dumping of cheaper products from other countries into our markets…and the only way is to empower you to produce to your maximum for our markets,” he said while addressing management and workers of Aluworks in Tema.

The President also inaugurated the Enclave Power company substation and visited the Volta Aluminum Company all in Tema.

Dr EKwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Trade and Industry and Dr Kwabena Donkor, Minister of Power among other dignitaries, accompanied the President.

President Mahama who inspected most of their installations said government would reverse the current power situation to enable industry to produce to the maximum.

He promised that government would offer all the necessary support that would the sector to step up production levels
